8. CGCI Youth Club Sponsor: "Lucerne Valley Elementary School Youth Gardeners" & "Lucerne Valley High School Gardeners" - Students K-6th grades and 10-12th grades do gardening projects throughout the year in after school programs sponsored and funded by the club.
9. Club Garden Tours - The club offers it's members and the public a chance to tour unique gardens, orchards, and places of interest throughout the High Desert Community. Car pool is usually offered if out of town trips are made. The club also participates in tour of interest sponsored by the Roadrunner district that provide a bus for transportation. Members pay their way for these activities.
10. Annual Club Plant Sales - Held each year on the porches of Lucerne Valley Market, this is our primary source of fundraising. We specialize in drought tolerant plants suitable for the High Desert and hard to find in most nurseries. All members participate.
11. Smokey Bear & Woodsy Owl Poster Contest - Students at Lucerne Valley Elementary School, 1st through 5th grades, are invited to participate in the jointly sponsored CGCI and US Forestry annual poster contest. Winners are sent on to CGCI to compete for further awards.
12. Flowers for Graduation - A carnation (white and/or yellow) is given toe ach graduating senior from Lucerne Valley High Schools. Funded by club.
13. FFA Reforestation Project - Joint project with the Lucerne Valley High School FFA Students to grow plants and trees needed to reclaim the Mining Quarries in our local National Forest. This project is funded by the US Forest Service and maintained by club members and school students using the school green house facilites.
14. "Wreaths for Veterans" - The club will place wreaths on each veteran's grave in the Lucerne Valley Cemetery simultaneously with the "Wreaths Across America" program on the first Saturday of December each year. This project is funded by materials donated from club members.
